: An igala(African) word for a witch
As a Nigerian, we have our beliefs and all…All around the world, people have different beliefs and tradition
If you are not aware, Nigeria is located in West Africa, a beautiful place filled with cultures and tribes up to 250.Yes! That large!!
Even after our colonization and Independence from Great Britain, we have Christain, Muslims and few traditional worshippers.
I remember vividly travelling back to my village when I was younger(let’s say around 10 year old) with my mom and sisters…We actually planned for a wedding (my step Aunt’s). It was a really horrible journey, bumpy roads and all. I was scared to death of course but my mom was a mom😁. We were given rooms to stay as the next say was the traditional wedding ( a local African wedding)

At 1’o clock in the morning, I could hear the meowing of a cat. At first I ignored it but it kept on and on till I had to see if there was a cat in the house. Tiptoeing from my room, I tried to open the main door to go out and investigate this strange sound but my grand ma beat me to it. She was already put with a torch trying to find this Oshù
In Africa, Cats are seen as transformed witches that have come to terrorize a particular area. It is also seen as bad luck and other stuffs. Because of this cat, my step-aunt wedding was cancelled and pushed to a later date. A week later, I found a corpse of kittens behind the generator, apparently killed by the fumes of carbon monoxide from the generator. I actually cried, they were soooo cute
Well, this comes to the end of my blog. I hope you learnt something from this
When next you see helpless kittens, help them!
